Festival of Roses

The 27th annual Festival of Roses will be hosted by the Butte Rose Society at the Chico Community Center, 545 Vallombrosa Ave. Chico. 

The doors to the free show will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. 

Hundreds of roses, grown by local members, are expected at the judged show, so it’s a great place to check out the plants that do well in the north state. And as rose growers say, the rose isn’t difficult to grow. Members in the Butte Rose Society will be on hand, including certified rose experts to answer questions or brainstorm about what’s going on in the garden or plan for a future garden. 

Unlike other shows, the Festival of Roses isn’t just about gorgeous flowers. There will be educational exhibits, photographs, and an arts and crafts section that must incorporate roses. Help pick the show’s most fragrant rose will return in the popular competition.

Just out the Community’s Center’s backdoor is the Creekside Rose Garden, a public garden of more than 100 rose bushes operated by the Chico Area Recreation and Park District.
